While this can vary and range depending on the project size and what you own and want to reincorporate, a general budgetary number that could be helpful is 3-5% of your total budget for these items. The details of décor and accessories are very important to bring the home feel to your newly renovated space. These pieces will complete the overall look and are very important to the design.

How much of my budget should I allocate for décor & accessories?

Interior designers are sometimes given a price break with certain manufacturers and vendors. At Noun, we like to split the trade discount with clients, so they don’t pay full retail. Example: Noun gets a trade discount of 30% off an item, the client receives 15% off retail, and the designer gets a 15% mark-up.

What are commission mark-ups?

To keep the project on schedule, you can expect weekly to bi-weekly check-ins to provide status updates on your project or schedule appointments as needed throughout the process.

How often should I expect communication with you?

Many factors can impact the timeline: how large the job is, how quickly you make decisions, current shipping times, product availability, etc. Once we know what project we are tackling, we can discuss the timeline in more detail. From past jobs, we have learned that for the project to be successful, it is important to do what we call Streamlined Design Process. We will work out the details and have everything decided on before we tear your house apart. To minimize the stress of a full renovation, we work to have all materials on-site before starting the project.

How long will my Project Take?

After years of working in this industry, Noun has developed relationships with reliable, trustworthy sources and can refer you to general contractors and tradesmen for any design project. If you prefer to work with your own contractors, Noun is open to joining forces, but more time might be spent on-site for communication purposes.

Am I expected to find my own contractors?

You will have 3 days to review and decide if you would like to work together. This 3-day expiration allows for the scheduling of other clients who are also inquiring about services and requesting to get their projects started.

Do Unsigned Contracts Expire?

Noun Interiors supports competitive industry design fees, billed at a designer hourly rate. Hourly billing means you are charged an hourly fee for the time it takes to complete your project.

Hourly fees include everything necessary to bring you an amazing design: drawings/renderings, sourcing materials, purchasing, administrative, site visits, and install days. These fees are separate from commission mark-ups on final product costs, which in most cases are lower when compared to retail pricing.

How do you charge for your services?

Yes, please refer to the services page for details on required minimums.
This minimum is set based on previous projects and ensures that Noun can give you the best design for your budget.

Do you have a minimum?

Our design rate is $120/hour which can include but is not limited to: design development, drawings, renderings, sourcing, interior styling, site visits, etc. Any administrative work will be billed at $60/hour which can include but is not limited to: e-mails, bids, invoicing, etc.

All projects must start with the design consultation. This consultation is $150 and is up to 90 minutes in length. After the consultation, the designer will let you know which service would be the best value based on your specific needs.

As listed on the services page, a minimum number of hours are required for each service type. Any hours beyond the minimums are charged at the hourly rate listed above. Once you are ready to start, a 25% retainer is required based on the minimum number of hours for that service to get your project on the calendar.
